Metal and Wooden Compost Sieve To Fit Over Wheelbarrow
Easily Remove rocks and Large Clumps from Compost or Soil.
Making compost at home is essential for creating nutrient-rich soil, reducing food and plant waste in landfills, and sinking carbon back into the soil. However, homemade compost often includes larger chunks of material, making it difficult to work with.
How to Sieve Compost
Our Wooden Compost Sieve is designed to fit over a standard-sized wheelbarrow. Simply load your compost onto the sieve and agitate it through the galvanized metal mesh. Larger chunks of material can be separated out and returned to the compost pile, leaving you with a barrowload of nutrient-rich compost for your garden.
Why Sieve Compost
Sieving compost improves soil texture by removing larger chunks and debris, resulting in a fine, uniform compost that is easier to spread and work with. This fine texture benefits seed germination by allowing better contact between seeds and soil. Additionally, sieving enhances nutrient distribution, ensuring essential nutrients are evenly spread throughout the compost, potentially reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. The process also facilitates better air circulation, accelerating the composting process and resulting in higher-quality compost. Furthermore, sieving removes unwanted materials like rocks and sticks, making soil preparation easier and more efficient. The versatile use of sifted compost ensures a consistent and high-quality product that benefits all types of plants, leading to healthier plants and a more productive garden.
Versatile and Efficient
We supply two mesh sizes to sieve to a fine or chunkier consistency. The Compost Sieve can also be used to remove rocks and other large materials from garden soil, making it perfect for harvesting pot-grown potatoes!
