Discover the edible plants within reach: this book will help you to unlock your 'plant vision'.
Three generations back, collecting wild food was a normal practice worldwide. Being aware of what, when and where to forage was a crucial part of daily life. We still had the hands-on experience of harvesting wild food. However, with the rise of supermarkets, the related knowledge of foraging has mostly vanished.
Gain back this wisdom today! From sea edges to forests, rivers to city roads - even your own garden - wild food and medicinal cures are around those who know where to look. Faced with world issues like climate change, food scarcity and pandemics, it makes sense to empower ourselves with the knowledge and expertise to look after ourselves and care for our households and societies.
Uncover the edible gems in your neighbourhood and embark on an exciting culinary journey with Eat Weeds! Learn how to confidently source a variety of wild foods and transform your daily routine into an edible adventure.
This book includes a foreward by Gardening Australia's Costa Georgiadis.
Diego Bonetto was raised on a dairy farm in northern Italy, where collecting wild plants was still a common practice. After moving to Australia in the mid-90s, he worked in orchards and garden centres and realised the value of his foraging knowledge. Today, he offers workshops to teach others how to connect with delicious wild food and have important discussions on belonging, sustainability, and agency. In his work, he collaborates with chefs, herbalists, environmentalists, and cultural workers. Also an artist, he uses his art to support and restore botanical literacy in communities.
