The bypass action means the blade bypasses the cutting block or anvil. This action produces the cleanest and hence the healthiest cut, and is recommended for all pruning of live stems up to about 25mm diameter.
To keep the secateur blade in top condition wipe with an oiled cloth after use and sharpen periodically.
