This sharpening steel tool is made by Burgon & Ball.
It is made from genuine Sheffield steel, and is magnetised to give superior performance as the filings remain on the steel where they can be simply wiped off with a cloth rather than remaining on the blade where they may rust.
Hold garden tool in one hand and sharpener in the other. Place sharpener onto the garden tool at an angle to the tool's blade. Tilt the cutting edge of garden tool blade at about 25-30deg to the sharpener.
With gentle pressure draw the sharpener two or three times across the blade edge. The edge is easily retained with with one or two light strokes daily or upon use.
