  • 1 min read

MYO Lavender Lip Balm

Made from all natural ingredients, with three easy steps - this recipe is one of our staff favourites! Making your own health and beauty products is a great way to reduce single use plastic often associated with store bought alternatives. Making your own natural personal care products also enables you to avoid toxic ingredients like petroleum, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and palm oil.

Lavender essential oil is highly regarded for its health benefits  - it is thought that it can help promote restful sleep, lift mood and calm the nervous system. Make your own lavender lip balm today and feel the benefits!

Beeswax pellets

Ingredients

2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp jojoba oil
1 tbsp beeswaxpellets
2 tsp honey
10 drops lavender essential oil

lavender essential oil

Gather your ingredients, then:

  1. In a small saucepan melt together the coconut oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, and honey over medium heat until liquid. Remove it from the heat, stir in the lavender essential oil, and set it aside.
  2. In a large bowl, add 2-3 cups of ice cubes and fill the bowl halfway with water. Place the saucepan over the ice bath and stir vigorously with a spatula until it becomes thick (but not completely solid). Be careful not to let any of the water splash into the wax. If it becomes too solid, remove it from the ice bath and let it warm up a bit.
  3. When the lip balm has become thick and emulsified, remove it from the ice bath, and portion it into 6-8 small containers.
